Wedding Day Tips!

Getting Ready Tips on your wedding morning
Hi there,
There is a lot to think about when planning a wedding and it can be overwhelming. Every part of the day has its charm and importance. You can plan and prepare every step of the way, but once the day arrives the only thing you should worry about is to enjoy and have fun! I am here to help you and guide you with tips that will make the getting ready part of the day (my favorite one) fun and enjoyable.
-Timeline-
Having a perfect timeline is key! Especially if you don't have an event planner. Allow more time than what you think you need to get ready. It's better to be safe than RUSHED! We will work together in creating the perfect schedule for the day where everything will run smoothly and on time.
- Get Plenty of Rest -
The most important thing to do the night before your wedding day is to get a good night of sleep. Many couples have rehearsal dinners the night before and stay late. Did you know you can push back the dinner to two nights?I did that. I had my rehearsal dinner on a Friday and my wedding on a Sunday.
This is very important ladies....
- Pamper yourself! -
Make sure you create time for you while creating a timeline. Whether it's a short walk, a morning yoga, or a bubble bath with candles and rose petals, in the end you'll be happy with yourself. You will have plenty time to be surrounded by friends and family. A 30 minute relaxation might be just what you need to alleviate some of the wedding stress.
- Alcohol Moderation -
Avoid drinking too much the night before. If so, you will be tired. A poor quality sleep can affect your appearance and mental state. You have been waiting a long time for this day to happen and you want to be at your best! Think of the olympics... yes exactly you have been preparing for this day :)
- Gown -
Hang your gorgeous dress the night before or even earlier. You might have to steam it again so do that as earlier as you can! Are you considering to get a personalized hanger? The photos look great with one.
- Makeup and hair -
Make up and hair are very important, stick to a solid timeline. A lot of times brides underestimate the time it will take to get not only their hair and makeup done, but for all the other bridesmaids too. Booking a trial will help testing how the desire style will hold and look. I always advice my brides to schedule the trial for the engagement photos so we can test how it would look. Just remember that half of your make up will disappear in photographs so you want to find an artist that will achieve your desire look maintaining an appropriate coverage.
- Details -
If possible try to gather all the bridal details together before I arrive (dress, jewelry, shoes, bouquet, garter, veil, perfume, etc... ) Have a full invitation ready for me to photograph. In times, brides forget them or just bring few pages. After putting so much thought and energy designing your gorgeous invitation, let me photograph it exactly how you designed it :)
- Eat -
Make sure to eat before your Glam Tribe arrives. You might be anxious and excited, but you need to be at your best so food will help. Choose a healthy breakfast that won't make you heavy or tired!
- Rigs -
Clean the Rings! It is amazing what a macro lens can show. If you have some dirt or build-up on your diamond it will show in your ring shot! You can do this at home with a ring cleaner :)
- Light is Everything -
It is important that you pick the right room to get ready. Make sure it has light and it's not cluttered. You want to get ready in a room with open space, full of great energy. You can always have another room for storage or for your girls but you need to have a ZEN room for yourself :)
- What to Wear -
Having a bridal robe will make a difference in the photographs. There are many options to chose from and you can find one online easily. I bough mine in Etsy. One of the shots I love to capture is the bride looking at the dress just before putting it on!
- Flowers -
Make sure you schedule a good time for your flowers to arrive. In occasions, the flowers do not get deliver to the getting ready part of the day and we miss out on gorgeous getting ready photos with the bouquet and boutonnieres.
- Emergency kit! -
Have an emergency kit! This one always comes handy and you will be prepared for any unexpected obstacles.
- Create a Play List -
This is a fun one! Prepare a list of your favorite songs to listen while getting ready!
Don't forget to pack a set of portable speakers in your overnight bag if not getting ready at home.
- Bride/Groom Wedding Gifts -
Exchanging notes or gifts can add a touch to the story of the day. I love to capture these moment when the bride and groom read the exchanged word. This adds emotion and excitement to the day.
So…. If you are like me, you would want everything to be perfect! Am I right? When planing the day it is ok to have that mind set, but once the day arrives, your only job should be to enjoy and cherish the moments. Life. Is. Not. Perfect. Your wedding day might have few hiccups on the way. If a button snaps, a drink spills, or your dress gets snagged, let it go. You are marrying the love of your life and that itself is magical! Your wedding will be AMAZING! If your heart is in the right place, you will always remember the day PERFECT!
